Today was an interesting day. Jackie made me a delicious breakfast and my legs were sore so I waited a while to depart. Dan gave me a ride up the road to the top of the hill, which probably saved me from peddling in the dark tonight.

Progress was slow, as my legs are just so sore. I made my way to Port Jervis, NY and ate at a diner for lunch. I kept on peddling and ended up in the middle of the Delaware water gap.

I ended up running into another cyclist and asked where the food in Walpack was. He said the Walpack Inn is a great place, so we continued on those last 2 miles somewhat close.

I went into the Inn to get some dinner, but obviously looked confused. I was greeted by a man, Russ, and it turns out that Paul DeMeo had sent him an email but Russ hadn’t had the time to reply. I was introduced to Jim, and they offered a beautiful cottage for me to stay in, right near the inn.

They treated me to a wonderful dinner and I met a ton of the staff that worked there. The food was exceptional, I would come back without hesitation.

Russ told me a couple stories. It turns out this town is very small population wise, as the government bought all the land through eminent domain to dam the Delaware river, similar to Quabbin for all of you in MA. But, the project was abandoned.

Also, there was a man..I think his name was Lee? He came through here last year with a wagon led by horses all the way from San Francisco to Boston, MA.

Random item I didn’t hit? The arm to a skeleton? I had to get a picture it was so odd.
